LimeBike, innovative or not?
If you are living in a big city or attending a college campus you may have seen a few Green bikes pass your way. No its not a bycicle gang. These are called "Lime Bikes".
LimeBike was founded in January 2017 and raised $12 million in venture funding led by Andreessen Horowitz in March 2017.[1] The company's first location, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, launched in June 2017 with 125 bicycles.
LimeBike expanded in July 2017 to the cities of Key Biscayne, Florida, South Bend, Indiana, and South Lake Tahoe, California on July 27, 2017
“There is no kiosk docking station so bikes can be ridden anywhere and parked at any bike rack or designated bike parking area throughout campus,” said Mike Kennon, NC State’s assistant transportation director for planning and operations.
With its service providing the rider with 30 mins of ride time for only $1 its easy to see why the company has been constantly growing and recently have been spotted in downtown Dallas,TX. I can definitely see the benefits it could provide in cutting down pollution and traffic in busy cities. It is also a great service on college campuses. I personally have to say this is a very innovative idea.
